As a result of the initiative, determination and unrelenting support from the Ministry of Higher Education, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) was able to implement the first full Dual Award Program with a Prime German partner in less than a year. The signing of the MoU in May 2010 marked the beginning of a long-term partnership with the prestigious Hochschule Karlsruhe Technik und Wirtschaft (HsKA), Germany.
With the one-to-one adoption of the study program concept, Malaysian students will be able to experience a highly practice-orientated education, which includes an integrated mandatory internship of six months. The response from the Malaysian industry to the reorientation of the training and qualification of engineers is mostly positive. The industrial sector has been working together closely with the university regarding internships or degree theses. Hence, this would enable UMP to intensify its cooperation with local companies for mutual benefits.
The German Academic & Career Centre (GACC), UMP is located in the township of Pekan in the state of Pahang. The campus is surrounded by breath taking view of green landscape and lakes with the sea breeze from the South China Sea. The location is within the vicinity of developing industrial zone, particularly automotive industry, which acts as a catalyst for research collaboration and academic proliferation.
